For years, Dad has been collecting decades of Porsche magazines, books, following blogs, videos, and social media to find an affordable, good-condition project car.. We weren't looking for a 914, but when this one popped up, we jumped on it after two inspections.

Dad's not a trained mechanic, and neither is Jack (yet). Dad has rebuilt several cars including a Type 1 and Type 3 VW. Jack repairs small engines, but Porsches are a new level for both of us. Jack and Dad will lean on mentors, peers, experts, sellers, and suppliers.

Phase 1: Catalogue and photograph all parts.
Phase 2: Clean/update fuel system, hoses.
Phase 3: Inspect, fix, and test the engine/EFI.
Phase 4. Inspect, test, replace, and repair
remaining electrical, brakes, steering, seals, suspension, transmission, body, and paint.

Jack The Engineer
15-YEAR OLD JACK IS A TALENTED MECHANIC
Jack has a voracious curiosity and naturagift for solving highly technical problems. In just 4 years, Jack taught himself the basics of CAD, 3D printing, electronics, chemistry, small engine repair, weld and much more. With some help from Dad and close mentors, Jack is quickly outgrowing Dad's skills (and his garage).
Jack made a Custom Go-Kart this year in between the 914 proj
With a 212cc motor, custom frame, suspension, torque converter and hydraulic disc brakes, this baby goes 35 MPH!! This was Jack's project in between his 914 build this year. Jack did all the chassis fabrication, tube cutting, welding, grinding, and engineering to this custom Go Kart.
